MY HOME – MY STORY

CHRISTMAS AT MY HOME

What is home…?

Home serves as a refuge from the pressures of daily life, offering comfort, relaxation, and peace—a place where you can truly be yourself and make meaningful memories with those you love, particularly during the holiday season.  Home is where our feelings and relationships live. It’s about closeness, trust, honesty, and love.

Why decorate a home at Christmas?

Christmas is a celebration of home, family, and the traditions we hold dear.  The act of decorating for Christmas and celebrating the holiday fills the home with joy and festivity, marking the season as distinct from the rest of the year.

What materials hold significance for you and which one you prefer for Christmas?

When it comes to Christmas decorations, the most meaningful to me are, without question, my Christmas village display. I take great care and attention in arranging it, thoughtfully placing each individual piece. There is something special about sitting back in the evening and taking in the soft glow of each individual building. The next most important decorations are my Christmas trees.

Colors…

My home is styled in a largely neutral palette, with tones of white, beige, brown, and grey. However, blue is my favourite colour, and I love finding ways to weave it in where I can. However, my Christmas décor tends to be clean and understated, featuring white, silver, and red as the main colours, with a hint of country style.

What is important to you?

It’s important that my home looks elegant while still feeling inviting. I want people to feel at ease and comfortable, not worried about breaking something, so they can enjoy the space.

What is special about your home?

I’ve been told on many occasions that my home feels the most “Christmassy.” If I had unlimited financial resources and storage space, I would transform every room into a Christmas wonderland.  With any luck, one day in the future that will become a reality.

What to bring back into the home…?

With so much Christmas décor and no extra storage space, any new additions have to really speak to me. Either they’d have to be a particularly beautiful or unique piece for the Christmas village, or carry some kind of personal significance.

What can’t you do without…

I truly love and treasure it all. Even when I complain about being busy and short on time, people often tell me I don’t need to go all out—but that’s never been an option. Christmas is my favourite season, and I refuse to compromise on my own enjoyment of my home.

Favorite corner…

Choosing my favourite space in my home is difficult, as it’s a toss-up between my bedroom and the area featuring my “Christmas in the City” display, designed to replicate New York City. The bedroom décor creates a warm, cozy atmosphere with snowman sheets and a small New England Christmas village, while the illuminated NYC display is breathtaking at night.
